The Tythe Barn Wedding Venue

TYTHE

LAUNTON, BICESTER

Luxury barn wedding venue in the Oxfordshire countryside

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels calm, relaxed and genuinely joyful, Tythe Barn is hard to beat.

Set in the Oxfordshire countryside, it has that rare mix of feeling beautifully considered while still being completely easy to be in.The spaces are considered, the flow makes sense, and yet it still feels like somewhere you can laugh loudly, wander freely and settle in for the day.

The barn is full of warmth and character. Big wooden beams, soft natural light, space that holds people comfortably without ever feeling formal or staged.

Ceremony, drinks, dinner and dancing all happen within the same estate, but in clearly defined spaces that each feel different. The gardens, barn and farmhouse are close enough to feel connected, but not so close that everything blurs into one. The day flows naturally without guests feeling stuck in one room.

WHY COUPLES LOVE THIS VENUE

Couples love Tythe because it gives them a beautiful, character-filled setting where the whole day flows easily, they can stay on site with their closest people, and everything feels relaxed, natural and genuinely enjoyable rather than staged.

Especially popular with:

  • Couples who want a whole wedding experience, not just one day – Tythe Barn really suits couples who love the idea of settling in and making a weekend of it. Having the farmhouse on site means slow mornings, relaxed prep, and evenings that don’t feel like they end too soon. It’s ideal for couples who want their wedding to feel shared, sociable and unhurried.
  • Couples who want something polished – Tythe attracts couples who appreciate thoughtful design and beautiful surroundings, but also want to laugh loudly, hug freely and properly enjoy themselves. It’s refined without being showy, and relaxed without feeling rough around the edges.
  • Couples who love character but not anything too formal – This is a favourite for couples drawn to historic spaces, beams, stone and thatched roofs, but who don’t want anything stiff or overly grand. They want warmth, texture and atmosphere, without feeling like they’re hosting a black-tie event.

What couples rave about:

Couples always say how relaxed they felt at Tythe Barn, and it’s something you really notice on the day. They talk about how supported they felt by the team, how nothing ever seemed to feel rushed or stressful, and how easy it was to just be present with the people they love.

The barn itself gets a lot of love for feeling warm and characterful without being formal, and the farmhouse often ends up being one of their favourite parts, especially those slow mornings and the way the day unfolds naturally from start to finish.

What comes up again and again is how much couples actually enjoyed their wedding, not just how it looked, but how it felt to experience.

Images of Tythe Barn

A selection of beautiful images, taken by Ania Ames Photography during wedding ceremonies at The Tythe barn.

From a Photographer’s Perspective

From my point of view, Tythe just makes my job easy in the best possible way. The team are always calm and kind, and you can feel how much they care about the couples they’re looking after. Nothing ever feels panicked or rushed, even when plans change, and that calm spreads to everyone else.

If it rains, it honestly doesn’t matter. The indoor spaces still feel warm and full of life, and there’s never that sense of settling for a second best option.

I love how close everything is. I can take a couple for a few minutes, capture something really meaningful, and have them straight back with their friends before anyone even notices they’ve gone. And because couples feel relaxed and supported here, what I end up photographing isn’t posed or performed, it’s real. Laughter, emotion, quiet moments, all of it just happens naturally.

Photo Opportunities at The Tythe Barn

As a wedding photographer who’s worked at The Tythe Barn multiple times, I can honestly say it’s a joy to photograph. There are so many lovely little pockets across the barn, gardens and farmhouse that work at different points in the day, which means we can capture natural, meaningful moments without pulling you away from your guests for long.

Under Wisteria Pergola

Even when it’s not in bloom, walking under the wisteria pergola feels like stepping into a different world, quiet, enclosed and beautifully timeless.

The Courtyard

The courtyard is perfect for family photos with the thatched barn as a beautiful backdrop, and later in the evening it completely transforms into a cosy, atmospheric spot for night portraits with festoon lights glowing and the wood-burning fires lit.

Around the farmhouse

From the flowers outside to the farmhouse and its light-filled interiors, this spot is gorgeous at every angle, whatever the weather.

The Gardens

The gardens are ideal for relaxed couple portraits and natural guest moments, with open space, soft greenery and plenty of spots that feel tucked away, especially lovely in the quieter moments throughout the day.

A few insider tips…

  • Indoor photos at Tythe are never a compromise, the barn and farmhouse hold soft, flattering light even on grey days.
  • The pergola photographs best when it’s slightly quieter, slipping through just before or just after peak guest movement keeps it feeling intimate.
  • I build in short, intentional pockets for couple portraits rather than one long session, which suits Tythe perfectly.

“Ania got all of the shots that we asked for and captured the day so beautifully. We have been told by several people how these are the best wedding photos they’ve ever seen! Her warmth, kindness and direction were perfect and just what we needed.”

QUESTIONS

I pride myself on providing the best quality photographs and editing for all of my couples and edit every single photo individually, so typically it will be around 8 weeks for your online gallery. Don’t worry though – I’m going to send you a little preview of around 20-30 photos shortly after the wedding.

While I may have photographed at similar venues in the past, most of the weddings I cover are at new locations. And actually, that’s a good thing!

Approaching a new venue with a fresh pair of eyes allows me to get more creative and capture unique photos tailored to your wedding day.
If I haven’t photographed at your venue before, I’ll take the time to do research beforehand. I’ll look at photos and videos of the location, familiarise myself with the layout, and scout out potential photo locations.

These are very important – it’s not often you get to have all your loved ones in one place! I always ensure my clients consider having formal group shots as part of their day. I recommend that you create a list with a maximum of eight group shots to make sure they don’t take up too much time.

My full day coverage starts from £2000. This usually begins around two hours before the ceremony and runs through until a few songs after the first dance, so the story of the day is properly covered, not rushed. I also offer bespoke hourly packages if you’re planning something smaller or shorter and want coverage tailored exactly to what you need.

Of course! During your wedding day, I will work discreetly, blending in with your guests to capture candid and natural moments. I will give you gentle directions to help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. My goal is to make you feel at ease and let you enjoy your special day. I want you to feel like I’m a friend who was there to capture your memories, not just a photographer.

Once you’ve decided you’d like me to photograph your wedding, I’ll send over a contract and ask for a £400 deposit for full day coverage to secure your date. The remaining balance is then due 30 days before your wedding. From there, everything is all booked in and we can start planning your day in a relaxed, stress free way.
