A Stormy, Joyful October Wedding at The Tythe Barn In Launton

A Stormy, Joyful October Wedding at The Tythe Barn In Launton
As an Oxfordshire documentary wedding photographer, I get to see weddings unfold in the most honest, unpolished, brilliant ways, and Josephine & Tom’s October day at The Tythe Barn in Launton was exactly that. Storm Amy brought the wind, the rain, and the drama, but the whole day still felt incredibly relaxed and full of warmth.
A Laid-Back Morning at The Nook
Josephine got ready at The Nook with her mum and bridesmaids, one of those wedding morning setups where no one is tripping over each other, everything is close by, and the whole mood stays calm.
Tom was at a nearby hotel with his groomsmen. When they arrived at the venue, I popped over as the buttonholes were going on and grabbed a few portraits before everything kicked off.
A Rainy Walk to the Church on the Grounds
One of the best things about The Tythe Barn In Launton is having the church right there on the grounds. Even though it was raining, Josephine walked over with her bridesmaids, umbrella in hand, laughing through it. It was very “classic British autumn wedding” in the best way.
The ceremony was full of emotion, and straight after we headed into a confetti. There was so much confetti! Colourful, fun, chaotic in the best possible way.
Reception Drinks, Canapés & Storm Amy Doing Her Thing
Everyone walked back to the courtyard for drinks and canapés after confetti. Storm Amy was fully committed by that point, but it somehow added to the atmosphere. Guests were in great spirits, and we used the backdrop of the barn door & wisteria tunnel to get all the family photos done while everyone was together.
Portraits in Wild Weather – Veil Magic & Surprise Sunshine
While guests were taking their seats for dinner, we snuck away for a quick wander around the grounds. The wind made the veil shots look unreal, and then suddenly – the most golden autumn light broke through. A proper “we’ll never get this again” moment.
Evening Portraits Under Festoon Lights & Cosy Courtyard Vibes
Later in the evening, once everyone had settled after speeches and dinner, we stepped outside for a few more pictures under the festoon lights. The courtyard at night is incredibly cosy. Warm lights, crisp air, and a bit of quiet away from the noise. If you’re getting married here, it’s absolutely worth sneaking out for these!
